January 2023 Minutes

MINUTES of a Parish Council meeting held at The Village Hall, West Street, Brant Broughton on

19th January 2023

Present: Cllr M George (MG) (in the Chair), Cllrs. P. Dunning (PD), A. Early (AE), J. Salmon (JS) and K. Salmon (KS), S. Swain (SS); and P. Thornburn (PT). Also Dist  Cllr M Green and Cty Cllr M Overton.  There were no members of the public present.

Dist Cllr M Green advised of various payments that were available for low income and other people on benefits.  Funding was available for sports organisations.  The new boundaries are now visible on the website – we will go into the Cliff Villages and lose Mary as our District Councillor.

Cty Cllr M Overton – was advised that her Newsletter had been circulated.  Funding is available for insulation of homes, subject to certain criteria.  Highways officers have been changed.  Resurfacing work on the A17 is excellent.

22/77: Apologies – There were none.

22/78: Minutes of the meeting held on 8th December had  been read, were approved, and it was unanimously resolved that they be signed.

22/79: Stragglethorpe straw debris: MG had been in touch with SKDC planning department who confirmed that the lorries are supposed to be netted – they are looking into this issue.  Flooding over half the road at the bend in Stragglethorpe has been reported on Fix My Street on numerous occasions but so far nothing has changed.  Cllr Overton was asked to look into this.  Also suggested that the LRSP be advised to see if they can help.

22/80: Tree Warden – the confusion seems to have arisen as this title is within the Parish Council information in the Three Villages and a Hamlet magazine.  The Chair will ask for this to be moved to another listing within the magazine.

22/81: School Safety Zone – The Chair has spoken with the new Head at the school.  She is now aware of the parking issue and therefore child safety.

22/82: Noticeboards – a new aluminium noticeboard with posts is preferred for Stragglethorpe. One side to be locked and the other not.  Space for 8 x A4 sheets required for the locked side.  The noticeboard on BB High Street has been sealed to stop the ingress of water and is now serviceable but it does need varnishing.  The wall that the noticeboard is attached to will be taken down in due course and a new site for the noticeboard will be required.

22/83: Information boards – No further updates as yet.

22/84: Planning

22/1572 – reserved matters for land north of Vineyard Cottage, Stragglethorpe – approved.
