August 2022 Minutes

Minutes of Parish Council meeting held at The Village Hall, West Street, Brant Broughton on 

4th August 2022.

 

Present: Cllr M George (MG) (in the Chair), Cllrs P Dunning (PD), J. Salmon (JS) and K. Salmon (KS), and S. Swain (SS).  There were 3 members of the public present.

22/41: Declarations of interest:  There were none.

22/42: Public time: The Coffee Morning Group has raised a substantial sum of money and would like to put some planters outside the Village Hall.  The VHC has no objections.  The Council agreed with this suggestion on the understanding that planters would not go on the grass (they could go on the slabs) and that the PC has no responsibility for maintenance.  The planters will not be done until the weather cools down.

Dog faeces has become more of an issue.  Agreed that a notice will go on the Village FB page and in the Messenger concerning this problem and also reiterating that all dogs should be on a lead.  (MG to do editorial). 

22/43: Apologies – Cllr Thornburn and Cty Cllr Overton (her report had been circulated) and Dist Cllr Mary Green.

22/44: Minutes of the meeting held on 23rd June had  been read, were approved, and it was unanimously resolved that they be signed.  

22/45 – Co-option – There are two interested parties who will be invited to make a representation at the meeting on 15 September.  Thereafter Councillors will make their choice as to who to co-opt and that person will be invited to join the meeting.  Clerk to send out relevant paperwork pre-meeting.  Meeting will start at 7 pm.

22/46: Trees and Rectory Field – Ash tree will be pollarded on 3rd and 4th October.

The two tree guards have now been installed.

Benches – both benches have been delivered and are in KS garden – a working party has been arranged for Sunday 7th August to erect and install benches.

The ginnell between Robinson Place and West Street has now been cut.

22/47:  Bus shelter:  Noticeboard has been ordered and is due to  be delivered on 18th August.

 

22/48: Planning:

22/0676 – tree works at The Barn, West Street – approved.

22/0759 – tree works at 120A High Street, BB – approved.

22/0968 – tree works at 6 Maltkiln Lane – pending consideration.

22/0944 – change of use of barn to dwelling at Brant Lodge, Stragglethorpe – pending consideration

22/1032 - Brant House Farm Stragglethorpe – new agricultural store and access track – pending consideration.

 

22/49:   Finance:  

               Resolved to sign the bank reconciliation/income/expenditure sheets at 

               30.6.22 and 31.7.22. Bank balance at 30.6.22   £30,363.17.  

 

Payments since last meeting:  Salary and expenses £717.18; Jubilee £132.60; VH hire £15; Metal tree supports £474; Grass cutting £580; Bank service charge £18; Cricket Club grant £200; Village Hall grant £1902.

Resolved to pay CHT annual defib maintenance at £162.

Resolved to order a 12-14 ft Christmas Tree from Doddington Hall for delivery on weekend of 25th November.

Tree guards have been added to the Asset Register.

 

There is a Cluster meeting at Norton Disney on Monday 12th September.

The spring Litter Pick (to be undertaken by the Pre-School) will take place early in September.

Future projects to be considered and put forward for discussion at September meeting.
