Brant Broughton and Stragglethorpe Parish Council

Notes of Parish Council meeting held at The Village Hall, West Street, Brant Broughton  on

7th April 2022.

 

Present: Cllr M George (MG) (in the Chair), K. Cain (KC), P. Dunning (PD), J. Salmon (JS), K. Salmon (KS), P. Thornburn (PT) and Cty Cllr M Overton. There was one member of the public present.

22/001: Declarations of interest:  There were none.

22/002: Public time: Cty Cllr M Overton said that people were coming forward to house Ukrainian refugees for which they are paid £350 per month – the Welbourn co-ordinator is Christine Goldsmith.  People in Council Tax Bands A-D will receive £150 shortly.  The Local Plan consultation takes place until 15th May.  Housing numbers are too high and village growth has a cumulative impact.  The Plan proposes many new wind turbines but there have been many objections.  Planning Officers reduced from 43 to 15.  Scrutiny seats have also been reduced.

22/003: Apologies – Dist Cllr M Green and Cllr S Swain.

22/004: Minutes of the meeting held on 24th February had been read, were approved, and it was unanimously resolved that they be signed.  

22/005: Trees – The tree surgeon had given his recommendations regarding the ash tree outside the village hall.   After discussion it was agreed that the tree should be pollarded.

Cherry trees – The Chair had put forward suggested wording for the plaques and this was agreed – the plaques to be ordered were agreed at £12.20 each.    The cost of metal guards for the trees was expensive – Cllr Thornburn will measure the existing ones and get a quote from a local iron worker.  It was recommended that the tree that is laying down in Rectory Field should be left – Clerk to advise parishioner accordingly.

22/006:  Bus shelter:  Noticeboard still being sourced.

22/007: Planning:

  1. – 6 poultry houses at Leadenham –pending consideration.

22/0033 – The Shielings, Stragglethorpe – proposed pagoda – approved.

22/0058 – Midvile House, Meeting House Lane – fell willow – approved.

22/0115 – 68 High Street, BB – various works – pending consideration.

22/0135 – 3 High Street, BB – rear extension and front porch – pending consideration.

22/0198 – Guildford House, West Street – various additions – pending consideration.

There are no objections to the last three applications.

22/008: Queens Platinum Jubilee (QPJ): Cllr Swain had sent an update to the Council and this was noted. 

22/009:  Finance: Resolved to sign the bank reconciliation/income/expenditure sheets at 28.2.22     Bank balance at 28.2. 22 = £18,811.24 

Payments since last meeting:  Salary and expenses £353.11   PFA grant £487.

22/010:  Next meeting –  12th May 2002 – Annual Meeting of the Parish Council and regular meeting.
